Empowering Talent Through the Gyproc Scholarship Program
This year, Christopher Kirk and Sarah Clark were awarded the prestigious Saint-Gobain & Gyproc Scholarship, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys.
Christopher, a graduate of Inver College, returned to his former school to share his success and express gratitude to the teachers and partners who supported him. Sarah, a student from Coláiste Dun an Rí, will begin her studies in Actuarial and Financial Studies at Dublin City University, bringing her analytical talents to a field where precision and insight are key.
Now in its fourth year, the scholarship program is exclusively available to students from Inver College and Coláiste Dun an Rí, designed to support high-potential individuals pursuing third-level education. The scholarship covers four years of college fees, offers valuable work experience at the Saint-Gobain plant during holidays, and includes a two-year postgraduate internship.
This initiative not only supports academic excellence but also provides practical industry experience and a clear pathway into a professional career. By investing in
education and development, Saint-Gobain is helping students achieve their goals while
fostering future leaders who will bring innovation and opportunity back to the local community.
The recent recognition event was attended by school leadership, including Deputy Principal Mr. Paudie Finnegan and Guidance Counsellor Mr. Simon Conroy, who joined in
congratulating the recipients. Principal Sinead McColgan commended the program, noting that the combined value of this year’s scholarships exceeds €60,000. She emphasized that these awards are more than financial assistance, they are a recognition of talent,
dedication, and ambition.
“Saint-Gobain Gyproc is not only investing
in education, but in the future of our
communities and industries.
— Sinead McColgan, Principal, Inver College
Both Sarah and Christopher expressed their excitement and gratitude, recognising not only the financial support but also the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through summer placements at Saint-Gobain. With 11 scholarships now awarded since the program’s
inception, Saint-Gobain continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering young people and building a stronger future for Kingscourt and beyond.
